SnapShops Photos - Homework Assignment #1

So I always say in my next life, I hope to be a photographer...


 This year I have decided it's time to improve and actually comprehend the functions of my camera.  I always envision what my photos SHOULD look like and LOVE a great photo - but me reading the manuals and grasping the functions just isn't that fun. I've taken an online course with Ashley Ann Photography and so far so good, I think.  Here are the results of my first homework assignment.  

My kids immediately dove into the candy hearts when I was done with this shot.  I'm surprised there weren't any kid shadows from them hovering...

Homemade Coconut Spa Water

So everyone may not LOVE coconut water at first swig, but it is hard to ignore some of the benefits when it comes to comparing it to other drink options.  Plus, once you get used to it, it's pretty good!

I recently came across a recipe from myspawater.com for a tasty homemade version. Seems that in doing a little research on coconut water {the "natural" fitness water}, coconut milk is also an fantastic pool of essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients, just like it's famous sister, coconut water.  Coconut milk, is basically concentrated coconut water, and can provide many of the same nutritional elements when diluted with water, at a fraction of the cost.  

An added perk is that coconut milk is considered a natural remedy for an impaired immune system, and an active ingredient in many skin care products, as it is thought to keep the skin healthy and wrinkle free. {We like that!}

To make a batch, just combine:

• 2 teaspoons coconut milk {we used Thai Kitchen Organic Lite}
• 22 oz of water
• ice

You can add extra vitamins, minerals, and flavor by adding pineapple, mint, mango, lime or cucumber.  {If you are using this recipe as a "sport drink" add 1/8 teaspoon sea salt}.

Gatorade:    6.25 calories, 1.75 grams sugar, 3.75 mg potassium, 13.75 mg sodium

Zico:          5.45 calories, 1.3 grams sugar, 61 mg potassium, 5.45 mg sodium

Homemade:  3.75 calories, 0 grams sugar, 26 mg potassium, 1 mg sodium

Cost wise, it is a least worth a try...40 25oz bottles of a popular brand cost about $145, as compared to the homemade version in the same amount costs under $3.00.

CUP A JOE

So, I will be the first to admit I have a slight obsession with kitchen gadgets...


I didn't REALLY need the panini press, and could have done without my ebelskiver pan...BUT, I recently purchased one of those cute little silver stove top espresso makers and I AM IN LOVE.  I think I may make the best latte on the block.  It was inexpensive {think of all the $$ I am saving not going to the coffee shop every morning}, it's super easy, and a bit rewarding if I do say so myself.
